Last weekend, almost 60 of our closest family and friends joined us at ABC Microbrewery for our co-ed baby shower! We called it the “Brewing Baby Smied” shower, and it was a blast!
My mom was the generous hostess of this shower, and originally booked the outdoor beer garden to have a low-key, outdoor shower. But we woke up that morning to 80 degree temperatures, 90% humidity, and a 70% chance that the radar was going to stay looking like this:
So, we made the call to move it inside. Silver lining: when we showed up to setup – we realized that there was a GIANT chalkboard wall (yes!), and a large projector screen above it. This meant that I could be in chalkboard heaven, and Jeremy could put on the Michigan vs. UCF game for all of the Michigan fans that would be there. WIN-WIN!
My mom and sister-in-law Allison helped a TON with prep – including spending roughly 800 hours of their lives making the favors. These were small jars of Framboise jam (recipe)…so super cute, but also really labor intensive.
Usually when I go to parties/showers, or even just out to eat in general, I have a really hard time finding something to eat with my food allergies. So when we had an allergy-friendly dessert table with Whole Foods-crafted regular cupcakes, gluten free cupcakes, and a vegan carrot cake…I was pretty excited. And by excited, I mean I ate 3 pieces of cake – I’m not even ashamed.
I made the “Cheers, baby!” bunting for the top of the cake from this printable chalkboard bunting, bakers twine, and bamboo skewers.
Look at this guy – a natural already 🙂
We received so many amazing, thoughtful gifts for our little one, and had a great time. We are so thankful to everyone who traveled to celebrate with us!
